Why Philanthropy?

Philanthropy is defined as voluntary action intended for the public good. From a very young age, I have been surrounded by people who have a heart for giving back, it has always been second nature to me. Coming to Auburn, I had the intention of studying Early Childhood Education, yet when I heard more about the Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies program I realized that I had more of a heart for giving back and changing the world. I then decided to pursue a career in the world of philanthropy and nonprofits to further the passion that I have for serving others. The following slides contain pieces of work that demonstrate the knowledge that I have gained so far during my time in the Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies major.

Project Uplift

For two years at Auburn, I served as a mentor with Project Uplift where I spent time doing weekly activities with my mentee. The mission of Project Uplift is help children develop constructive, happy lives so that the delinquency rate in our county will decrease.

The Big Event

During my first two years at Auburn I had the opportunity to be a part of The Big Event; a one day student-led service project. I served one year as a Project Coordinator where I managed a site of volunteers. The next year I served as the Director of Marketing where I created graphics and promotional materials.
